Making these 3D snowflakes is super easy, and I'1000 going to outline all the steps for you in detail.

What You'll Need:

Supplies for 3D Snowflakes

The supplies for this project couldn't exist whatsoever simpler.

Y'all'll demand:

  • Paper
  • Articulate tape
  • Scissors
  • A ruler
  • A pencil

Seriously.

That'southward it!

For this project, I just used some regular printer paper.

Only I guess you could make it fancy and use some patterned or sparkly paper.

It's really all up to your personal preference.

As far as the tape goes, I merely went with regular former scotch tape I constitute in the kitchen drawer.

Some people think y'all demand a snowflake template to make these, but you actually don't.

One time you empathize how to use a ruler to evenly measure out your pattern, the whole process is information technology super piece of cake.

How Prep The Paper For Your 3D Snowflakes

Once you lot take your supplies assembled, information technology's actually easy to get started!

Folding

The kickoff step to making your 3D newspaper snowflakes is to create a square out of your paper.

If you're using regular printer paper, similar I did, you'll simply fold the height, shorter border over to meet the longer, perpendicular border of the paper.

making a square for a 3d snowflake

This creates a squeamish, even triangle at the top of the page.

Now you'll want to trim off the excess paper at the lesser of your page.

If you're using a square piece of paper already, this step won't be necessary.

trimming your square

Now that you lot take a nice triangle (or a square folded in half diagonally), you lot'll want to mark the places for your cuts.

Mark Your 3D Snowflake

You'll desire to offset past lining your ruler up with the tiptop corner of the triangle.

Then marker a ane inch wide strip downward the centre of the triangle, starting at the point and ending in the middle of the fold.

Marking the center of the paper for a 3d snowflake

Later on you have the middle marked, line your ruler upwards along one brusque, not folded border of the triangle.

Mark the paper from the folded edge to your centre mark near one inch wide.

This was super piece of cake for me, since my ruler was about the width I needed to mark.

Then line your ruler upwardly with the mark you just fabricated and make some other line from the middle to the fold ane inch away.

Depict a third line, some other inch downwardly, shut to the eye of the page, merely this time bring your line all the way to the middle.

Then repeat the process along the opposite border.

More marking for a snowflake

Once yous have your lines marked on both sides, you tin can move on to cutting the meaningful designs in your 3D snowflake.

Cutting Your 3D Paper Snowflakes

For this portion, you lot'll yet want to continue your paper folded while you cut.

Starting with the lines closest to the eye, cut your paper forth the lines, removing a foursquare from the center of the page.

This is the only cutting y'all will make that will remove any of the paper from now on.

Cutting the square from the 3d snowflake

After you've removed the small square, cutting along the other four lines that you've marked.

Practise NOT cut all the style through the newspaper!

You lot want to stop cutting when you reach the line yous marked in the eye of the triangle.

Cutting the petals

Leaving this strip of paper in the middle is what gives construction to the unabridged project.

Unfold your newspaper, and information technology should look like this:

Equally yous can see, you at present basically have three squares cutting into the newspaper, ready to be made into a 3D snowflake.

Constructing the "Petals"

Starting with the centre near square, gyre the paper inwards.

Overlap the points fully, and place a piece of accept there to concur the roll together.

rolling the center paper for a snowflake

THIS IS Of import:  At present flip the unabridged newspaper over, placing your newly made roll facing downwards, being sure not to squish it.

Roll the points of the next inner square, overlapping them and securing them with tape as well.

IMPORTANT AGAIN:  Flip your paper one more time, so that the original roll is facing up once more, and exist mindful not to squish your second coil.

Roll the final ii points of the remaining square together over the elevation of the pocket-size roll.  Overlap the points and secure them with tape.

Your finished piece should look similar this:

Now repeat this entire process five more times, so y'all create 6 "petals" for your paper 3D snowflakes.

Once you've created six of these petals, line them up, all facing the same direction.

Secure the bottom points together with tape.

connecting your 3d snowflake petals

I did this past making two halfs, then connected those halves together with an eye for making the spacing even betwixt all the petals.

In one case yous've taped them all together, it'southward done!  You lot've made a paper 3D snowflake
